Q. How long will it take for the product to begin to work?
A. The product should begin to kill fleas within about 24 hours. It may take closer to 48 hours to begin to kill ticks.
Q. Is it normal to still see fleas and ticks on my pet a few days after treating with PetArmor Plus?
A. Yes. After treatment, fleas and ticks get very active as they die and move to the top of the dog’s coat where they are more visible. This is actually a sign that the product is working. However, if you’re seeing fleas several days or weeks after applying PetArmor Plus, you may have an infestation in your yard or elsewhere. Remember to treat all pets in your house with PetArmor Plus every 30 days throughout the year to help protect your pets from fleas and ticks.
Q. How does PetArmor Plus spread over a pet’s body?
A. PetArmor Plus migrates through the oil glands in the skin of the dog or cat. It then delivers continuously for one month through the hair follicle and skin.
Q. How often can I apply PetArmor Plus?
A. You should not reapply the product any more often than once every 30 days.
Q. How long after application can my dog be bathed or go swimming? What does waterproof mean?
A. Waterproof means that the product will not wash off if your dog gets wet and remains effective for 30 days. After applying the product you will want to wait until the application area is dry before allowing your dog to get wet, usually around 24 hours. Your dog may be bathed or go swimming after the product has dried.
Q. Can I bathe my dog or cat with a flea and tick shampoo and then apply the product?
A. We do not recommend doubling up on any flea and tick treatment as this can be dangerous to your dog. If you decide to bathe your dog with a flea and tick shampoo, we would recommend waiting the recommended time that the shampoo is active before applying the product. If you bathe your dog with a regular grooming shampoo, you can apply the product as soon as the dog’s coat is completely dry, usually about 12 hours.
Q. Can I pet my dog or cat after I have applied the product?
A. Yes. You are safe to pet and play with your dog after the product has been applied. It will take about 24 hours for the product to spread and dry on your dog, so if you handle and/or play with your dog within this time frame, you can simply wash your hands with soap and water once you are finished.
Q. Can my children play with the dog or cat after I’ve applied the product?
A. We recommend separating pets from children and other pets until the product has had a chance to dry. This can take up to 24 hours.
Q. The products made my dog’s hair greasy at the application site. Should it do this?
A. Once the product has dried on your dog’s skin, the application site should not appear greasy. However, if some of the product did get caught in your dog’s hair it could cause a greasy appearance. If the dog’s hair still appears greasy 48 hours after application, we would recommend using a wet washcloth or paper towel to wipe the excess product off the fur.
Q. Does your product have an expiration date? What is the shelf life of the product?
A. This product has a shelf life of up to five years. When properly stored and under ideal conditions it will be five years. If there has been a variance in temperature (extreme heat for example), it may reduce the effectiveness of the product. Be sure to store the product in a cool (below 77°F/25°C) dry place inaccessible to children and pets. Do not refrigerate and protect from direct sunlight.
